Dee loves living on the Coastal Bend with its beauty, birds, beaches, fish and friendly people. She is a '68 graduate of Rockport Fulton High School but detoured away in a move to Michigan to attend college and a career with the State of Michigan. She has been a licensed Texas real estate broker since February, 2006 and was a licensed broker and valuation specialist in Michigan from 1993 through 2005.
Dee's real estate career started in 1970 when she became a mortgage processor and began purchasing the first of many income and rehab properties. In 1974, Dee began working for the State of Michigan in the Property Management Division. Soon after earning a degree(MSU '79), Dee became a Property Specialist with the Michigan State Housing Authority as supervisor of the mortgage servicing unit for home improvement loans. In 1990, she transferred to the Department of Transportation overseeing land acquisitions for state airports and subsequently became a review appraiser and relocation specialist for the Real Estate Division from which she retired in 2002. Immediately after retirement, Dee became an Associate Broker with Coldwell Banker Hubbell Real Estate in Lansing, Michigan involved with marketing and sales of residential existing and new build homes. In late 2005, Dee and her husband, Gary, moved to the Coastal Bend where she was able to continue her real estate career in a warm climate near family and the Gulf.
Experience gained from years of working in the real estate industry gives Dee a head's up in helping her clients search, find and acquire the right property to suit their individual needs. Real estate has been Dee's long term-full time career, not just an after thought. Dee's broker's license is indication of her extensive and advanced level of real estate classes, knowledge and experience in the industry. She is also an Accredited Buyer Representative(ABR) and is a Certified New Homes Specialist(CNHS). She has extensive experience in completing Broker Price Opinions(BPO) and Comparative Market Analysis'(CMA's).
Dee is currently in Leadership Aransas County Class XXIV, and involved with the Hummingbird Celebration sponsored by the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce.
Gary came to Rockport after retiring from Electronic Data Systems. He is a graduate of Eastern Washington State University and holds an MBA degree from the University of Portland in Portland, Or. Gary is a Navy veteran, serving on the destroyers USS Mansfield and USS Trathen. The latter in the initial stages of the Vietnam conflict.
Gary's real estate experience began in Portland, Or in the 1970's. Starting out as an investor of single family houses. After acquiring several properties Gary acquired is Oregon Real Estate Sales License, selling real estate part time while working full time at Consolidated Freightways as a Software Systems Engineer. In the 1980's Gary sold all his real estate holdings and did not get back into real estate until moving to Rockport with his wife Dee in 2005.
Since moving to Rockport Gary has purchased additional investment property, acquired his real estate sales license in 2006 followed by his real estate brokers license in 2009. Gary is a full time Real Estate Broker working with buyers and sellers.
In addition to real estate, Gary is active in the Rockport Yacht Club in which he is treasurer, participates in the Rockport Center for the Arts Art festival, was a member of LAC(Leadership Aransas County) class XII, is the treasurer for the LAC Alumni, sits on the LAC Steering committee, member of the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce Finance Committee and the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee, plus co-facilitated the Economic and Tourism session of the LAC program for classes XIII and XIV.
Gary and Dee are also members of the Aquarium at Rockport Harbor and the Texas Maritime Museum.
